It had been just five years ago that “Fun Home” made history once the first Broadway musical to feature a lesbian character that is lead then proceeded to win a passel of Tony Awards before you go on a national trip that included an end in the Boston Opera home.

But progress frequently happens more quietly and incrementally than that.
